It happens that content needs to be moved, that the past needs an update. From one location to another, from one document management system to a new one.
Your aim will not only be to simply move files, documents or E-mails, but also to clean, de-duplicate, re-classify and enrich the information so that it can be better used in the future and new value is created. Knowliah offers you a complete automated migration solution.
Auto-classification is an integral part of the Knowliah technology and makes it possible to read large volumes of unstructured information, to check for duplicates, to add new metadata and to send the information to the right new destination. Knowliah is ready to use and does not require any scripting nor programming.
When existing information in file servers portals and outdated systems needs to be migrated towards a new information management system like Knowliah, organisations are facing huge amounts of manual work. Often content migration is seen as too costly and hence valuable information and knowledge get lost or become inaccessible.
Thanks to the auto-classification technology of Knowliah one can process large amounts of legacy content. Knowliah will analyse and tag this information automatically. The newly generated content with its new metadata can then be moved to a new document management environment like the Knowliah Intelligent Repository or another environment like SharePoint or any other document management application.

The Migration Process
Knowliah has access to the legacy content because the source system can export its content, or because Knowliah can access directly the content of the source system through a connector. In both scenario’s, Knowliah can read, manage and re-use the metadata of the legacy content. Knowliah offers connectors for a wide range of source systems like file servers, Lotus Notes, SharePoint, Filenet and many others.
Knowliah processes the legacy content with its metadata when available. The content processing goes through different steps like the auto-classification that detects metadata by analyzing the content, and de-duplication that detects redundant files. Based on the detected metadata, Knowliah is able to act on the characteristics of each content-object. Documents can be moved to different locations, metadata can be mapped on the new metadata model of the target system, etc..
The result of the processing by Knowliah of the legacy content is a new corpus of documents, e-mails and unstructured information that is now tagged with new, updated and enriched metadata. This enriched content can be stored in the Knowliah Repository, or it can be exported to or loaded into the new target repository. Non-Knowliah targets can be SharePoint or any other document management system.
